Ecology and sustainable tourism

Sant Joan de Binissaida is firmly committed to ecology and respect for the environment.
The various initiatives include:

• The hotel has a photovoltaic power plant that produces electricity.
• The production of hot water for the five rooms located in the old buyera-haystack is achieved thanks to an installation of solar power plates.
• The hotel has recycling containers of paper, plastic and glass, respectively, thus enhancing the reuse of resources and the reduction of waste.
• Lights indicating the outer roads are powered by solar energy.
• The new WCs are equipped with a water control and saving system.
• Six hectares (closest to the sea) have been reforested with pine and olive trees, following the guidelines of the European Union reforestation programme.
• All walls have been recovered from "dry stone" following the original construction methods.
• In 2000, the Ferris wheel was rehabilitated after studying the ethnological elements with which it was originally built. Today it contains water and works as in ancient times. Also, the old bread oven, which can be used today, has been redone.
• All garden, agricultural and forest areas are beautifully preserved, offering unparalleled natural beauty
• In 2017 a green filter was created according to the guidelines of the GOB that reuses the waste water for the irrigation of the state.
• The main house has a photovoltaic boiler installation for the production of hot water.
